The Mysterious Island, Jules Verne: new Hebrew translation, vol. 1

This edition is in Hebrew.

March 1865. Five prisoners of war escape from besieged Richmond in a balloon, in the middle of a hurricane. The storm carries them thousands of miles over the Pacific Ocean and casts them onto the shore of an island marked on no map.

They have almost nothing: no tools, no weapons, and a single match. What they have is knowledge, resourcefulness and friendship. The engineer Cyrus Smith, the reporter Gideon Spilett, the sailor Pencroft, the boy Herbert, Neb and the dog Top build themselves a world from the ground up: fire, bricks, iron, and a home in the heart of a granite cliff.

But things happen on the island that have no explanation.

One of Jules Verne’s great novels, in a new, complete translation from the original French, with Jules Férat’s illustrations from the 1875 illustrated edition. Part first of three.
